Technology Focus
The application of technology to organizational process is a complex and ever evolving activity.  It can mean the success or failure of a business, from the small main street store to major corporations.  When applied successfully, technology can create a new business where none existed before.

I focus on the sales and marketing of emerging technology solutions within the context of the strategic needs of the client, including competitive position and revenue creation.  As Michael Porter wrote in Harvard Business Review, the information revolution affects competition in three vital ways:

  • It changes industry structure and, in doing so, alters the rules of competition, the power of buyers, the power of suppliers, the threat of new entrants, the threat of substitute products, and the rivalry among existing competitors.
  • It creates competitive advantage by giving companies new ways to out perform their rivals.  The effect is to lower cost and enhance differentiation.
  • It spawns whole new businesses, often from within a company's existing operations.  The effect is to make new business technologically feasible.

Emerging technology is the most dynamic of the information technologies.  Inclusion of emerging technology creates first mover advantage and a solution that can be applied on a broad basis within the organization.  This provides the organization with strategic and tactical advantage in relation to their vendors, business partners, and customers. The organization can then apply technology to achieve the goals as outlined above by Michael Porter.
